Gabriel’s Place: A pantry serving those in need
Dear Friend,
You are invited to a virtual birthday party to help celebrate the Family Pantry’s 21st year of successful operation. It is hard to believe that it was 21 years ago that we opened in the little storefront on Rte 28 near the Dennisport town line. But time has flown by and if there is one commodity that is more valuable than money it is definitely time. Life just seems to get busier every year. I would say that it is just me since I reached a certain unmentionable age last year but I hear more and more people saying how quickly time goes by and how busy we all are.
So this year instead of asking people to help us run a party, donate items for the party, and attend the party we are instead asking everyone to celebrate via a virtual birthday party by sending a donation. We welcome donations of any amount and you can now do so via your credit card or paypal account on our website: www.thefamilypantry.com. We also welcome the traditional donations of checks made out to The Family Pantry & sent to the above address.
We continue to see increased needs for our services. In the first six months of 2010 we have served an average of 869 households each month. This is up 10% over last year & 37% over 2007. Probably more telling is the fact that we see 80 new clients each month. These are people who have never needed our services before. In fact some of them used to be donors!
The Ambassador Program is a great way to help us. The way it works is that we ask you to commit to $25 a month for the year. This can be done monthly, quarterly, semi annually, or annually. We will provide billing reminders via email or US Mail. It is also possible to set this up online through our website. We recognize our Ambassadors on a plaque in the pantry entry unless you prefer to remain anonymous.
Thank you for your consideration of this request and please think of the pantry clients and 230 dedicated volunteers during the month of August when we begin our 22nd year!
