Events:
Allen Harbor Thanks for Giving Dinner : This is a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings put on by the Members of the Allen Harbor Yacht Club in early November each year. The cost to attend is $15 plus a bag of food for the pantry. Each year the attendees and club member fill the truck with food for us and provide a very generous donation from the sale of the tickets. It is a fabulous event and we are so grateful to them.
Bridge Lessons by Phyllis Newton: Phyllis Newton teaches bridge lessons in Harwich Port each summer and asks that her students donate $10 to the pantry for each lesson which is such a generous and creative way to support us. Thanks Phyllis!
Cape Cod Chronicle Neighbor Helping Neighbor Drive: Hank Hyora and his wonderful team have run a drive for us the past seven years and it has become a very important revenue stream for us. For 6 weeks around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays they write feature articles about the pantry and request donations for us. Each week they publish the names of the donors (except those who wish to be anonymous). The Cape Cod Chronicle has raised over $225,000.00 for us through this drive.
The Cape Cod Potters Soup Bowls for Hunger: The Cape Cod Potters have come up with the perfect event for us “Soup Bowls for Hunger”. The potters donate gorgeous bowls that they have made and have a soup dinner at the Cape Cod Technical School. The culinary arts students make the soup and rolls and Girl Scout troops decorate paper plates, donated by Cape Cod Paper which are used first as placemats and then as bags to take the bowls home. The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Foundation underwrites the event and the pantry receives a very generous check from the event each year. The Cape Cod Potters have raised close to $200,000.00 through this event.
Holy Trinity Church: The Family Pantry was started by member of the parish’s St Vincent DePaul Society and both the Parish and the School have supported us in many ways over the years including: allowing us to sell supermarket gift cards after all the Masses, collecting food for us, having their students help with our Thanksgiving program and collecting new toys for our Christmas program.
Macy’s Bag Hunger Program: Macy’s in Hyannis has selected us for their partner in the national Bag Hunger campaign. Each year they encourage employees to donate to the pantry and have in store events for the employees. Macy’s then matches the financial donations resulting in wonderful financial support for the pantry.
Pilgrim Congregational Church: For the past few years members of the church have gone up to Foxboro to pick up food for us from a national food drive the week before Thanksgiving. That is an incredibly busy time of the year for us and we did not collect this food until Pilgrim Congregational Church took the initiative and starting going for us!
Stop & Shop Food For Friends, East Harwich: As part of Stop & Shop’s national campaign, the East Harwich store solicits donations from their customers and presents us with a sizeable check each winter.
TD Bank Affinity Membership Program: TD Bank contributes a percentage of the annual balance in every account whose owner has chosen to affiliate with The Family Pantry. Checking, savings, money markets, CDs and retirement accounts are all included. And there is no limit on the amount of TD Bank’s potential contribution and best of all there is no cost to the person or organization who chooses to affiliate with us. It is TD Bank’s money that is contributed to us.
Turkey Trot Golf Tournament – Dennis Pines Golf Course: Golfers have a wonderful end of season golf tournament and the cost is a $25 supermarket gift card for the pantry.
